2025 Red Bull RB17 Hybrid Hypercar Announced
A starring role in developing the Aston Martin Valkyrie was not enough for Red Bull Racing as it prepares to take a second bite at developing a Formula 1 derivative hypercar.
Red Bull Advanced Technologies (RBAT), the high-performance engineering arm of Red Bull Racing Group, has announced it is preparing to produce its first-ever production car in 2025.
Also known as the RB17, this Red Bull Racing car is described as a two-seat F1-inspired hypercar “optimized for the ultimate track driving experience”.

It will likely take the fight to other F1-inspired hypercars, such as the Aston Martin Valkyrie co-developed with RBAT and the Mercedes-AMG One.

The Red Bull RB17 will be powered by a V8 hybrid engine producing over 820 kW of power, which for context, is 45 kW less than the Aston Martin Valkyrie and 38 kW more than the Mercedes-AMG One.
Details on the RB17 are a bit sketchy around the edges for now. Still, RBAT has confirmed that the hypercar will be built around a carbon composite fairing and will feature “the most advanced ground effect package available in a series production car”.
Full technical details for the RB17 will be revealed closer to the vehicle’s production start date.
Prices for the RB17 will start at £5 million ($A8.8 million), excluding applicable local taxes and road charges, and production will be limited to just 50 units.

Each RB17 is manufactured at the Red Bull Technology Campus in Milton Keynes, UK.
In addition to the car, RB17 owners will have access to the Red Bull Racing team’s simulators, the vehicle development program, and training and track experience.
The RB17 is also supported directly from the factory, with service and maintenance tailored to each owner, depending on the vehicle’s use.
We have yet to see a real photo of the RB17, with RBAT showing a sketch that appears to show the passenger capsule.
The Red Bull RB17 is the brainchild of Red Bull Advanced Technologies and Oracle Red Bull Racing CTO Adrian Newey.
“The RB17 distills everything we know about creating championship-winning Formula 1 car into a package that delivers extreme levels of performance in a two-seat track car,” said Mr Newey.
“Driven by our passion for performance at every level, the RB17 pushes design and engineering boundaries far beyond what was previously available to enthusiasts and collectors.”

At the end of 2021, Aston Martin produced its first Valkyrie hybrid hypercar, developed in collaboration with RBAT and AF Racing, using concepts and technologies drawn directly from Formula 1.
The Valkyrie was first announced in 2017 and was shown in prototype form several times before custom production began.
There is also a convertible version of the Valkyrie and a hotter Le Mans-inspired version, the Valkyrie AMR Pro.

Mercedes-AMG also unveiled its One hypercar in production form in June 2022, after it was originally slated to launch in 2019.
The One was held back due to the challenges of getting an F1-derived powertrain to work on the road and meet increasingly stringent emissions standards.
All versions of the Aston Martin Valkyrie and Mercedes-AMG One are sold out. Expect the same for this upcoming Red Bull RB17.
